Cursed With Shyness

In an invisible cage

Wrought of my own fears

Time spent watching

Life happen

To others

Peering through glass

As people pass by

Unaware

Unknowing of my

Yearning, angst, loneliness

How do I get inside?

When may I join

Participate

Share a laugh

Cry with a friend

Play a game

Other than solitaire

Can anyone see me?

Inspired by fellow poet Joelle Nanula’s haiku - Behind Glass. Link below.

Watery Mistake / Swim to Oblivion

Despair of the soul, disease of the mind

Hapless life lived, no comfort to find

Sly voice urges "escape from the sun"

Silky waters beckon, to them I run

In our soothing depths, the solace you seek

To velvet oblivion, you can slide so sleek

Body breaks surface, ripples they spread

Cold creeps in, bones shiver with dread

Air bubbles rise, surface tension flows

Through stygian depths consciousness goes

Fish swims near, tail flicks like a tongue

Pupilless eyes bulge, a stranger among

White coral reflects the last of the light

Below this depth an endless night

So close to the bottom, lungs not in twain

Every nerve screaming, sundered with pain

A last futile thrust as gravity pulls

Too late discovering the desire to live rules

Oh I love how this was inspired by Joelle's piece! Yours was so poignant! Also, the Poets and Fiction community no longer have any word count requirement.
