surreal poetry
Surrealist poetry embodies the essence of poetry itself, drawing upon shocking imagery and lyrical incongruities to comment on the inner-workings of the mind.
I Remember
Dear Love,I remember the feel of your breath on my skinand the beat of my heart in my chestI remember the way my breath trembled withinas you stole what resistance was left*I remember the way my name fell from your lipsas you surrendered your love, no repriseAnd the depths that you went, while taking a dipin the pools of my innocent eyes*I remember my will slowly becoming yoursas I gave everything that I wasI remember unlocking each one of my doorsand feeling no reason to pause*I remember the moment you shattered it allfor your promises were made of glassEvery moment was planned to answer your callas your feelings for me quickly passed*I remember the look of shock in your eyesas I packed, taking back what was mineI remember the horror and shock of surprisewhen I longed once again to be fine.*Oh, the traces of love we so eagerly carveon our hearts, our souls and our mindsWhen we would have been better to cautiously starvefor another, more gentle and kind*Yet, the heart wants what it wants, and that battle is fierce, The humbled broken, now give no response as the poison from your kiss casually piercedFor was there ever really a chance?Goodbye,Me
