sad poetry
The cathartic nature of poetry makes it one of the best outlets to channel feelings of sadness, emotional turmoil, grief and despair.
"The More Loving One" by W.H. Auden
If all stars are lost, I should learn to appreciate the beauty of an empty sky, even if it takes some time. While poems about heartbreak may not be as upbeat as those about love, they can still be beautiful and important. The cosmic expanded metaphor of W.H. Auden's 'The More Loving One' exemplifies this; though he would want to be 'the more loving one' himself, Auden wonderfully captures the anguish of loss when love ceases.

Futtock: My F Word
Futtock: one of the curved timbers scarfed together to form the lower part of the compound rib of a ship ~Merriam-Webster My Connection: Although I've never been “to sea”, in my youth, I had a fascination with sailing ships, particularly of the gunship variety. My older brother and I spent countless hours constructing plastic models of historic examples, such as the USS Constitution. We were just a bit obsessive about our research and filled our heads with terms we'd never use, such as futtock. (And I'll bet you thought I chose this one because of the rhyming “B” word.) Hah!
