The Present Tense of Joy
Mira sat by the window, her fingers wrapped around a warm mug of coffee, watching rain bead across the glass. She wasn’t really seeing it—her eyes were focused outward, but her mind was busy reliving old conversations, past mistakes, and moments she wished she could erase or rewrite.

The Sun Is His Signature
Every morning, before the world stirs awake, a quiet miracle takes place. The sky blushes gently in hues of rose and gold, and then—without fail—the sun rises. It is a rhythm older than history, a light so familiar we forget to see it for what it truly is: a divine signature, inscribed across the heavens by the hand of Allah.

🌫️ “Disappear, Gently” 🌫️
Sometimes, I wish I could disappear— Not forever, Just long enough To find my breath In a world that never stops moving. --- Not to break hearts, Or cause worry, Or spark whispers behind closed doors. But to step away From the weight Of being “fine.” --- I want to fold myself Into a quiet place— A rented room, A nameless town, A coffee mug warmed by silence And a window that watches rain fall Without asking why. --- No performance. No updates. No need to explain the ache Behind my eyes Or the heaviness that sleep won't fix. --- I don’t want to be lost. I want to be Unfound Just for a moment— Long enough to let go Of being dependable, Predictable, Strong. --- Let me wander, Not far— Just away from the noise That demands I always Answer. Always appear. Always smile. --- And when I return— Because I always do— I'll bring with me The softness I found In the quiet, The strength I didn't know I was allowed To rebuild. --- So if you don’t hear from me, It’s not the end. It’s a beginning I’m reclaiming In peace, Alone, And finally, Without apology.

Aftermath
Prelude I've spent some time reflecting recently on my present situation after having been laid off from my most recent job after roughly 12.5 years. I've also drawn from previous hardships, both of mine and of others I observed, to glean a few observations about what adversity can do to a person and how that person might respond.
