heartbreak
They can break your heart, but they can't break your soul; poetry about lost love that comforts and uplifts.
I Didn’t Miss You Today
I woke up and your name didn’t echo in my first breath. I made coffee without thinking about how you liked yours. I passed our old bench— you know the one— and felt nothing. Not even a flicker. And it didn’t hurt. Not like it used to. There was no ache, no quiet longing hiding behind my eyes. Just air. Just sky. Just me. I didn’t check your page. I didn’t wonder where you were, or who was laughing with you. I didn’t write your name in my poems. I didn’t feel like something was missing. I just… lived. And that, more than anything, is how I know it’s over. Not with tears. Not with rage. But with peace— the kind that says, “You no longer live here.”

The Day I Couldn't Cry
Tears never came. Not when the door slammed, not when the silence settled like dust on my skin. I sat at the edge of everything— my breath a weight, my thoughts too loud to carry. Pain was not a sharp scream, but a quiet ache that refused to leave. The world moved outside my window, cars passing, birds flying, people laughing. And I sat motionless, lost in a place only I could feel. The mirror held my face, but I didn’t recognize it. I looked fine. I looked strong. I looked like someone who should be okay. But inside— everything was cracked, shifting, silent. I wanted to cry, to scream, to shatter. But nothing came. Not even a single tear. And maybe that’s the scariest part— when you feel so much you feel nothing at all.
