A Leopard Never Changes His Ways

Do not let him in. You will regret it

A Leopard Never Changes His Ways

He smiled like sin and smelled of charm

a velvet grip, a crooked arm

he told me truths in twisted lines

and slipped his hands through all my signs

He’d promise gold, delivered smoke

then laughed behind the words he spoke

I knew his kind, I’d met them young

with sharpened teeth and silver tongue

His coat was fine, his walk was sure

but every step reeked less than pure

no matter how the setting changed

his stories curved, his paths deranged

He kissed like fire, burned like frost

he found me once, then played me lost

I watched him prowl through softer prey

a leopard never turns away

They say he weeps when no one’s near

that’s not regret, that’s just veneer

his blood runs cold, his eyes still gleam

beneath the moon, he hunts the dream

I wear the scars, I know the code

the scent of danger never owed

he doesn’t beg, he doesn’t stay

a leopard never changes his way

So if you see him dressed in grace

with hunger wrapped around his face

don’t fall for names or shallow praise

a leopard never changes his ways
