The heat it shimmers the horizon far I glance the fuel gauge slowly reaches low Sands burning stretch beyond the distant hills The sun and heat scream rage against my brow Shall I return to my true love so fair Or seek my fate in parts unknown nor seen? We used to fit like hand in glove we were How far apart we've grown How could this be? I sense her eyes they search for me all day Will I return or carry on up north? Desperately she longs for me and prays I slow my car and contemplate this worth I'll turn this car around and make for home She waits for me with broken heart forlorn
