And final goodbyes

Today marks the end.

Not the beginning of the end, no, never that.

The beginning began the day they first met.

Two children just saying hello at school.

The fates designed it this way, you see.

As they do with everything, of course.

No matter what happened, their lives were always going to lead to here.

Tonight marks a week before school starts up again.

An hour before their story is over.

The duo is settled in a field, one which held countless memories.

A field which will become a memorial holding a lifetime past, a world that will never return.

Summer is soon to pass, and so they will spend it's final days planning for the future.

One that will never come to pass.

Hours have passed, spent with conversations of.... Anything, really.

Teenage years where one could speak about whatever came to their mind, when with the right people.

The right person.

Soon they will have to leave.

The fates are not always kind.

Soon they will have to leave, and final goodbyes will be shared.

Because there are words spoken into this universe which will never be given the weight that they deserve.

This world can build and break relationships like nothing one has ever seen.

The fates are not always kind.

For now, their biggest worries will be what classes they have and the homework that comes with them.

And later?

...

Later will bring two teens getting in their cars.

They will go their separate ways, goodbyes sweet on their tongues.

Unaware they only one will truly make it home.

...

And when the sun dawns they will wake to their ringing phone.

To the call that will make them realize they experienced the end, without the knowledge of what was happening.

For now the world will let them enjoy what they had have.

...

"Mm... 'Ello?"
