Street Sweeper

Attack

Can you hear it?

Humming through the street

Down the alleys of the soul

Clearing all debris

Where are all the faces?

Laughing, smiling, cheering

Back to boring life

A vast empty clearing

Why am I breathing?

Wasting useful space

Searching for a reason

To escape this never-ending race

I can hear him coming

Roaring through the trees

Changing all the atmosphere

With his soft, ferocious breeze

Glimpsing perfect features

Lips and hands and nose

Sweetness overwhelming

Counting all the toes

Feeling his heart beating

Syncing mine with his

Is he really mine?

Quick, seal it with a kiss

This, this is why I’m breathing

Why I’m running in this race

Life no longer boring

Enraptured by that face

Welcome to the party

Deep within my soul

Never to recover

I’ve relinquished all control
