The Search for Joy

At all the choices, I take a look back

To all the roads on my journey with my trusted backpack

To what I have seen

To what I have been

You go it alone

You leave it on your own

Then you think of all the people you're not speaking to

There are things you should do

I need to connect with my pack

I need to revise my plan of attack, can't carry the weight alone on my back.

Your goals, your dreams are you

Your friends are there to share the view.

Screaming on the rooftops

Partying to every bass drop

Laughing on the dock

Rolling Stones to the rock.

Sprinting to the sun

Enjoy it with everyone

Let your burdens be gone

So you can enjoy the wins you won.

Waking up to the sun

To the warm touch of someone

A blissful reward for all that was done.

Enjoy the moment, no need to be on the run.

There are times when I searched for everything under the sun

Like I was running out of time, running under the gun.

Transient, always fleeting, and then it sinks you like a ton.

With all that fleeing and flocking, you realize you've had its run.

You realize you have had your fun.

But are you living in joy with everyone?

Yourself, you are one. But what about that special someone?

Or the old pack and those ties left undone?

The flow of memories in the river run.

Finding that peace of mind with the setting sun.
