Springtime Terzanelle

A springtime Terzanelle

Oily rainbows slither down black and worn cement

trails of their silky hues falling away with the cold-

chasing a hasty melted winter without lament.

Saucer magnolias wave with rosy fingers bold

to anxious liquid snow racing down busy gutters,

trails of their silky hues falling away with the cold.

Freckled grey birds watch crumbs of burnt toast lacking butter

flutter from chalky skies and ensue them as they fall

to anxious liquid snow racing down busy gutters.

An ocher doe crushes twigs to answer mother's call,

glancing at silken leaves of cherry trees tenderly

flutter from chalky skies and ensue them as they fall.

Boney women idle in wicker chairs send for tea;

their lacey ribbons adorning a hushed sun-bit day

glancing at silken leaves of cherry trees tenderly

Kids dash into car lot lakes ignoring fathers say,

oily rainbows slither down smooth and black worn cement;

their lacey ribbons adorning a hushed sun-bit day

chasing a hasty melting winter without lament.
