Tuneless tinkling of windchimes
lulls me like the song of sirens.
Like a perfect picture postcard,
the expanse of the sea lies before me.
Quietly coaxing, drawing me in
to its mesmerizing depths.
It is an unrivaled enchantress.
I am listless under her spell.
The sky, too, seems enthralled,
spinning clouds into
cotton candy sandcastles;
a silent homage to its salty mistress.
I dare not rise to venture forth,
knowing if my feet touch the sand,
if I wade into those waves,
I would gladly walk
with arms open wide
to repose in a watery grave.
