A tragic love affair

Sunset Blvd by Devin McBride

As we raced down Sunset Blvd,

We refused that dealt card,

Of a desolate life behind bars.

we taunted at the passing cars, they swerved as we started fights.

you drove through the red lights

through your sun kissed lips, you lied as I screamed in this joyride.

You loved the chase, I loved the thrill

A love that cops called criminal.

As we drove we were blind by what love could’ve truly been.

Sweet, rustic and not in a gun-filled bin.

Our cards were dealt,

The moment we felt

The tension that grew

That line I drew

That you chose to sweep under the rug

With every hushed, tearful hug.

Maybe they were right

That A love like this could only end in a fight

Or maybe society wasn’t ready

For our hands, on that trigger steady

Til we went down in a blazing fall

After we gave our all
