Iambs may amble, puffed with parametric pride Creating couplets, where rhyme and rhythm reside Exquisite emotions, free flights of Fantasy The Guilty Starts (and Happy Hearts) of new-found Romance Sweet summer memories flood, and my glass is filled A cricket match on the Village Green, at ten to two the Town Hall clock is stilled Cucumber sandwiches? Hot, sweet tea? Butter-laden crumpets for you and for me? A perfect scene, all sound and motion ceased Until the clock strikes “Tock!” and Life once more is released In the woods a sleepy dove coos soft and low No need for speed: here, life is easy and slow Idyllic scenes replay in my mind’s eye Close friends, far flung memories, endless clear blue skies
