Somewhere to Die

A Poem

I want to find somewhere to die

Somewhere to lie down

Somewhere to laugh and cry

Somewhere

For just you and I

Somewhere to settle

Somewhere to call home

I’m tired of the roaming

Tired of moving around

I miss my friends

I miss having friends

When will it end

Upside

It’s easy for me to get know people

Downside

It’s hard to keep them around

I do my best

But when you’re not around

They move on

And you’re left with the memory of how great they were to you

But you quickly become someone they knew

I’m doing my best to change

To be a better friend

Reaching out to those that are still there

The ones that care

Sometimes they answer

Sometimes they don’t

Or won’t

What can you do

I guess

But do your best to find a place

Where you and your friends and family can coexist

A place most call home

But for me

That’s a place to die

A place to lie down for longer than we ever have before

Somewhere to laugh and cry more than we ever have

Somewhere to have

All to our own

A place

For just you and I

As an itinerate pastor, this hits home. At this point in our lives (60 & 64) we own one piece of property--the borrowed grave where our son is buried & where we plan to have our ashes inurned.

Sometimes too much change is not a good thing for some people. Great sentiments. Excellent job Atomic.

This poem was painfully relatable but incredibly well done

    Melancholy!!! Lovely ending!!!❤️❤️💕

  • This is very insightful, deep. I can feel it, especially "Where you and your friends and family can coexist A place most call home But for me That’s a place to die..." 👏✍️👏
