One night online
We sat alone in the chat
Speaking of things; just this or that.
It was that night our friendship bloomed,
Like a flower that unfurls with the moon.
It was someone I knew,
Yet someone I didn’t.
Someone I found just fantastically different.
With smooth smiles and sarcastic silliness,
We began to see we were not all that different.
Over the course of a few nights,
We began to see each of our inner lights.
We helped each other, laughed and cried,
Went from serious to silliness, to sassy and sleepy and sly.
It was after a month
That we started to see
That we weren’t as similar as we seemed to be.
Yet we kept on trying,
Climbing courageously,
Even though
We weren’t sure how long
It would last.
The reason this person is a hero
Is because they’ve been there for me
And for themselves
Through thick and thin
Pushing through threatening thoughts.
And this someone and I, we’re still friends
Even though it has become
Difficult to communicate
Over dead ends and weekends.
But we will sustain
Like anything would
In the rain.
Mine:)
