I want to tell him

I want to splash it,

Splatter it in my own blood across every billboard

Like a flashing light on a lone island

If he knew,

If he just knew,

Wait.

What the hell am I talking about?

Why would I let him in to see my battered scars?

What purpose would it serve

To let the man I have loved for 8 years

Bring his hands against my stomach,

What do I expect him to do?

Feel the lines in my abdomen,

Like holes pierced far in the deep palms

Of mighty hands

Drag your guitar calloused fingers

Under my bra line,

One of many places no one checks for harm

My hair betrayed my first scars,

The thighs too overrated,

So let me pull you by the arm,

Lace my fingers through yours,

Swing your face to mine,

And bring my scars

Like pocket treasures,

To you with the enthusiasm

Of a naive and happy child

And please,

My dear

Try to smile with me.
