Slowly the leaves are falling,

Too fast now for me to count.

Sadness too late now,

Summer passed me by.

Slowly the leaves are covering my life,

In the end, I will enjoy the blanket.

Once the mourning has been done.

On another year, going its way.

Slowly the leaves are changing colour

But they do not copy the rainbow.

Leaves have a mind of their own,

And an existence we can but dream.

Slowly the leaves are making their way,

to never come back.

They will help us grown our food.

But time to know any of them, we did not take.

Slowly the leaves will be gone,

Blown away by the wind.

Finding rest in the deep unknown.

Which we do not know as yet.

Slowly the leaves are covered up,

By sleet then snow and steps.

The crunchy sound they make for a time,

Brings back childish delight.
