Sight at First Love

What it can give you...

Cute faces,

Several pictures saved in a folder,

My memories of burning your eggs,

Your lean into my shoulder in a theatre,

And quick jump into my arms after school.

*

This is one of those odd touches.

It makes you reconsider all considerations,

Take time for moments that will slip memory,

Be a person that you could be,

Write a strange sort of ode.

*

Nephew and niece...

Are you at all ordinary?

My thoughts of your lives and loves

Makes me reconsider what I should say;

A hard scramble of terms and ideas.

*

Seeing and believing in your sight,

Making and thinking about these lines,

I stop and hesitate with one more word.

Love is what the poem demands;

Love is what become my vision of you.

  • Love really does affect not only what we see but how we see them. As though seeing them for the first time over & over again.
