Shooting Star Generation
Keep Reaching
The world danced
With all the colors
We saved,
A celebration
Worth having
As we marked the day
On calendars
And filed away
To be reclaimed
By our hippocampus
When needed-
A joyous occasion
To be retold
To upcoming youth
That would need
Validation and evidence
Of a world
Where happiness
Was abundant
And love fell from trees,
And our dreams
Walked with us
Until we needed to run-
A world worth believing
We could create
From the work
Of our fingers
And longing of our hearts-
Our goals found truth
And structure
Within us
And we rose from the ashes
Of all we had destroyed
To reach our position-
From destruction
Comes beauty
From the erasure
Of self deprecation
We built a castle,
We built stability,
We built a ladder
Instead of a bridge
To reach the stars-
We pulled them to us
And celebrated
In their explosion
Of glory.
We were
Shooting stars
Illuminating a world lost in darkness
In the color
Of our victory.
