Drop

Hope's Light

By Katrina ThornleyPublished about a year ago 1 min read

The day was gray

A dull hum

Thrumming through

A machine caught in motion,

But on the horizon

A stray light-

Flickering for attention,

Coming closer

And then falling back

The curious minds turned

Attention towards unknown

While hands worked

The same motions known-

A new pattern was revealed,

A new rhythm for the hum

A new lyrical sound

That sounded through the masses

As they dropped their tools

Their chains upon the ground

And chased after the light

Going, going, going

Gone-

The master returned

To find holes undug

Seeds unplanted

Life changing

As they wondered how to move

As they tried to learn

The old humming, the old motions

Out of beat they were,

Soulless steps

Bringing them nowhere.

But beyond

The horizon grew

The light brilliant white

Shining through the gray

Leading the way

For the next wave

Enlightenment just beyond

Outside the gates

And the enclosed walls

Out beyond

The city bounds

Where the heart can search

And the soul can fly

Catching a ride

On the next ray

And freeing more

From the tick tock

Of the everyday.
