She Said Stand
A Motivational Poem
She looked at
Me
A gentle
Yet strong voice
Saying
“Stand for others
Because some can’t.”
I smiled and nodded
Wisdom in words
Easily understood
But often not
Applied.
“And speak up
Give a voice
Because some
Won’t.”
Her words
Spoke of experience
Of pain
Of compassion and
Love
But they spoke
Of something else
Too
The need to speak
To those whose voice
Was nothing more
Than a whisper
Or they had no
Voice at all.
I saw the pain
In her eyes
Heard it in
Her voice
A reminder
That even the
Strongest
Can be overwhelmed
By a weight
To heavy for
Any one of us
To carry
But a reminder
Too
Things work
Better
When we
Fight together.
