She Has Gained The Truth Of The Universe
As she protects all she’s savoured
She rose with the moon, tracing its trail in her nightly treks,
Ambushing the swollen hillsides as they rose against her,
Armed with the powers of the sun’s daytime strength,
Sprinkling the earth on which she treads with the seeds of the white fur.

In touch with nature and the spirits from the bows of the earth,
A warrior she, weaponised to destroy,
Slinking along through the moonbeam trails,
Throwing down starlight behind her as a serious decoy.
***
Watch the blaze of her gaze as it burns all it sees,
A woman on a mission of natural duty,
At the risen crest she perches and surveys,
The view in every direction her’s to sow into beauty.
***
She has gained the truth of the Universe,
Welcomed into its army of ammunition skies,
Sheltering the innocent from the fires of the valley,
Whispering through the sleeping to silence sweetly their cries.
***
Her warpath is made up of the worst nightmares,
Trampled into swamps of steaming mirth,
Dampening the hearing of those who enter,
As the darkness cradles all that it gives birth.
***
The whistling of the birds are totally silent,
Heard by those few as she,
It’s a language she’s fluent in without the stutter,
Non forgiving to the very ones she seeks their plea.
***
Screening the future down to her from above,
She plans her entry into the greatest of regrets,
When you ask to gain access with her,
She laughs at you through the smoke of her cigarettes.
***
Crying rainbows at the destruction she practices,
Arms reaching at the very pinnacle of the test,
The boom of the world surrendering to her,
As she nestles the guilty in between her breasts.
***
She’ll protect all she’s savoured from the wild of the wind,
Nursing them to infancy within the receding days,
The enemy will bow as she dances to her tune,
Then slip on home after the end, riding the moonlit stairways.

Pints & Parkruns: Jubilee, Spennymoor
If MC Escher created a parkrun, it might look a bit like Jubilee. Based in a compact – but surprisingly lovely – park in the small County Durham town of Spennymoor, it twists and turns its way up repeated hills. Although basic physics says it must come down again, somehow this route never feels like it gives runners a proper descent.
