There is a shadow on the wall,

that's taking the shape of you.

A form I knew so well,

wrapped me in comfort and safety

and protected me from endless storms.

You're just a shadow now,

a fragment of who you once were,

now a sliver of space where no light is cast.

You left behind a piece of you,

the darkness projected on the walls

that dance with the lamplight

and remind me of home.

Someday we'll meet in the shadows,

when my time has come,

but for now I can only watch your shadow dance

until sunlight chases it away.
