A Busy Memory
There was sunlight skipping off the road, reflecting off of other cars, making it hard for me to know which way I was flying by. If not for focus, there's no telling where I would land. Maybe I wouldn't land at all but instead continue sailing into the sun, into the light that burns holes where my eyes used to be. I wonder how it would feel to burn up while on the way to something with mundane importance. One moment you could be full of purpose and then in the next, you are nothing more than a busy memory.

Doing it for the troops
The others dropped like flies around me. We fought and struggled to get to this point. I'm the only one left now. The objective is right there. A mere two hundred feet away. The last of my team got a bullet to the head right next to me, but I couldn't do anything. I was able to locate and neutralise the sniper as he shot my friend, so his death was at least not in vain.

Really liked this Lamar. Excellent entry into the challenge
I missed this!! I love and have some of those gemstones. Good for grounding and good for feeling ..and also meditation actually.. ya know this was rad ..was sort of existential and a little philosophical but intimate. Well done Lamar. I just could just not seem to think of anything long enough for this challenge, but this is probably the one I related with the most! Liked your closing image too lol! 😁
This was such a breath taking entry to the smooth challenge!! It was elegant and had this luxurious feel to it!! The line "I know beauty when I feel it..." was just genius and rings so true for me!! It applies to more than just stones for me! I may not be able to interpret art "properly" but I know when it makes me feel something that it's a beautiful piece!! And this was one of those times!! I love how well you were able to capture that essence in this poem!! Great work Lamar!
