Secrets

For when you have them

I have got a secret

Or maybe even two

Something special I won't tell

No, not even to you

It nestles in between my ribs

Like snakes among the grass

Watching, waiting for the day

The moment comes to pass

When secrets need not hide away

Where voices raise in wonder

To see the shimmer of their scales

To fear no fight or plunder

With fangs tucked safely back inside

No reason left to bite

They'd coil on curious fingers and hands

Alive under the light

Though this has not yet come to pass

I'm not sure if it will

Hope shines in the serpents' bones

To not be a secret still
