Safe

A Short Poem

Everyone has a safe place.

It's cozy,

Comfortable,

And it fits your needs.

***

But what if that place...

...is disturbed...

Located by an unwelcomed guest,

An enemy if you will.

Is it still a safe place?

***

I used to have a safe place,

But I don't now.

***

I've been violated,

I've been exposed.

In an unpleasant way,

I wish I could run away.

Or be brave enough,

And show my true colors.

***

But I cannot,

I'm not strong enough.

I am a coward.

All I do is curl up,

Next to a wall.

And cry inside and out,

I'm alone in an unsafe world.
