we pay tribute to it in our silence

we honor the loss, with a life

continue to live by your guidance

wash the pain with the tears that we cry

we cherish the moments together

and long for the ones that will be

a love that will keep our souls tethered

that keeps you forever with me

words carved in stone for safe keeping

a solitary place to find rest

we hold one another while weeping

holding the memories of you in our chest

but the only thing keeping us standing

is the promise that we'll meet again

peace comes with this understanding

the question is not how, it is when
