Rug Swept

Not today, MFr

A chance meeting

A charming greeting

A promise of hope

You gave me a reason not to mope

So I took a timid chance

On a budding romance

Put myself out there

Allowed you in here

Inside my heart

My life you became a huge part

I’d sworn I wouldn’t let anyone in

That my love life was at an end

But I broke my word

With your promises I heard

With an intensity that was unusually kind

You totally blew my mind

Unable to think, I floated along

While our whirlwind situation played like a song

With each passing day, I fell more in love

I thought you were a gift from above

Instead, you were a mistake

Once you had what you could take

You became a snake, slithering off in the grass

In this, I refuse to be made into the ass

You’re obviously blind

And you’re not very kind

What you did broke a piece of me

That you had originally set free

Why couldn’t you let my love sleep

Where, for years, it was buried ever so deep

Where the high walls protected it

Lying in its dark pit

But you found my love

And pulled it out without a glove

I accepted you

I thought you spoke true

You seemed like a gift from a wishing star

But like the viper you are

You soon showed your forked tongue

Leaving me extremely stung

My heart you stilled gripped

Breaking it in half when it ripped

But deep inside

Behind a divide

That you did not see

There’s a hidden reserve to me

I’ll build myself back up

So don’t you worry, Pup

I know my worth

Now watch my re-birth

I reclaim what you took

You fucking crook

So go back to your garden and mind your hoe

It’s time for me to put on a show

So come one, come all, hurry for the first row

It’s time for me to do what I do best, and grow

Ain’t no man going to break me

I’m a fucking Virgo, I’m a Queen Bee

I’ve lived through worse

And I never go into reverse

A lesson was learned

A star was earned

Raise your glass

Then take it right up the ass

I know how this next scene plays out

You ain’t going to hear me shout

Straightening my spine, I stand with pride

No one steals what I have inside

With the power of three

I reclaim that which was me

Giving me strength, making me stronger

To make it yours no longer
