In the electromagnetic currents
of a thunderstorm;
in its silvery violets
and crying gray,
cascading into umber
rolling,
reverberating into my chest and bones
and the stones to shake
the ground
around and soak us through
Every time it's cold and shattering
and wakes me
and that is when I remember you
My storm, my child, my love, I know you
I know you well from my own heart
I know the terror and the breaking
and
the freedom
dancing on the ashes of tomorrow,
forever setting us apart
I know you well,
while all the creatures and the people run for cover
you strike me
with your fiercest fury
to shake me to my core
Your cries are mine
I know them, Storm,
what I remember
is a forever
in my arms
Break the world to live in your lightning;
and flood the earth through with your tears
Speak for us both then,
little one grown so big now
so that we may both know
what you feel
