•Reflection•
There is so much in you.
Not just blood, veins, and joints.
But there is so much in you--
a magnificent universe inside
Glimmering; with a vibrant spark
that breathes right beneath your eyes.
In those stories and dreams that wander
behind your every ‘It’s alright’.
And that smile of yours
lost, somewhere behind your cheeks.
Showing up ever so rarely, now,
up only in memories.
Even your voice that speaks
Like the wind sounds rusted, with lack of use.
The roar of the sky, at its brim,
one that’s raging, ready; but never pours.
And I wonder how you've lived so far.
But more so, why do you still live this way?
Don't the thunders strike within your bones
with all things you wish to say?
And I hear it, so alive and loud.
I hear it all so clear.
In the air you hold, your wavering gaze.
In the things you have yet to dare.
And I see it, it’s such a shame.
That only I’ve seen it live with my eyes.
How yours glisten at the thoughts
that prick, but never waves to sway the tide.
I always see you, standing so tall, I wonder...
How do you make it all seem so dim?
Enclosing it all within a façade of strength
as you hide all the things you think.
Your hands are wonderous at flight,
Can you see the magic they spew?
Breathing so much of light, it blinds--
into a space too painfully few.
And I’ve seen you, as I have said.
Seen your reflection so many times.
The flawed you felt so real-- I say
brokenly beautiful, one of a kind
The dark that you hid so far,
the white that went lost with it.
The grey that you faked affront in fear,
no colors had it left for you to pick.
Tell me, what scares you
to make you hide us so much.
Why not let yourself be seen
now, for all that we deserve?
For there is so much inside you,
I swear, so much that I wish you’d see.
Like an ocean trapped in a bottle,
we stand, only yearning to be free.
