Red is for Boldness

In my life, it is easier to hide in the cover of the dark

To hide the colours of my soul

To keep the ones that I love secret, to keep them safe.

In the dim light of the twilight,

the dark throws shadows on their faces

And where no one can see them, no one can hurt them

no one can hurt me.

Wear muted colours, neutral lipstick

Hide myself so nobody will ask me questions like "so, do you like girls?"

So what if I do? It's none of your business.

But then I see a little girl I know

Come up to me and ask,

"I don't like him. I like her. Is that ok?"

And I think, maybe what the world needs more is not the people who hide.

The vibrant red blood that flows through our veins

tells us to be bold, to live our lives out

Red is for bold, red is for love

To live boldly and love who I want

To love who I want without hiding it

So maybe I should wear the bright colours, the red lipstick

Be loud and make sure everyone knows

I love girls and I love boys

And even if I cannot be bold for myself

Maybe being bold for her is enough.
