Reciprocity

Free verse poem

I whisper my thoughts into the universe

this one lonely and fateful evening.

The wind collects and carries them

across distant seashores.

They sail along,

keeping the skies company,

flowing across the rolling hills of green and

whisking around snowy mountain peaks.

My wishes remain silent

as they brush along your cheek,

mistaken for a gentle breeze.

Once night has fallen again,

the stars gradually appear,

twinkling furiously,

wanting to share

my secrets;

wanting permission to be granted

to spell out the gratitude and

fondness that has grown from

the tiniest seeds of your simple reciprocity.
