"PURPOSE PT. 1"

Poem derived from my first completed journal, Black and Blue (2018-2019). Written May 23rd 2018.

My body is EXHAUSTED

But my soul is alive:

Ready to REVIVE

the ill in my bloody veins

and the aching hearts, weary minds

of those who kiss their eyes

with these words that don't even

BELONG to me.

They say actions speak louder than words:

for those of us who can't name it.

Then why do thirteen year olds

still cry at receiving pink post-it

note papers, screaming

in blue ink-gel pen?
