A poem about the agony of lost love

Flying high I shouted your name

Only to hear the deafening silence

Hope leaking from my heart

Did you have to stomp that hard?

I was your blanket in the winter shiver

Why did you let my love wither?

In despair and darkness, life lies

Why won’t this time fly?

Heart aches as a mirror would upon shattering

Was I this fragile to allow this thrashing?

This sadness sits at the bottom of the bottle

Why did you take apart my mind only to remodel?

Securing my broken heart in a chest

To bury so deep

Never to be found

Away from the hurt love brings

Protecting the leftover innocence

Of a hopeless romantic
