In The Depths Of Sorrow

i am suppressed into the concrete

like a fossil of the dead

peeled flesh, torn off completely

and i cradle what is left

the soul cries out a keening

a sound unknown to most

what's left behind is bleeding

an abandoned, hollow ghost

there are some things that time can't salvage

it leaves a hole, consuming air

for a solitary passage

a pain the heart and head can't bear

and i remain, unended

until this life drains from my being

my joy and pain fermented

as i pray death brings me peace

longing comes with each tomorrow

down every corridor i roam

through this valley wrought with sorrow

to find the path that leads me home
