I opened the Potli

And returning the storm

To the sea, said:

Thanks! If my beloved had not been living in it

I would have shaken the city.

This short poem is inspired by a poem of Amrita Pritam, a renowned Hindi and Punjabi poet, novelist and essayist. She remained an inspiration to generations. The partition of the Indian Subcontinent was the central theme of her works. Her works are considered a collective memory for both sides of the border. The power of her storytelling was incredible. Her writings are aslo a source of enthusiasm for contemporary generation.
