Pomegranate Hands by Lolly Vieira

In hindsight, it's pretty telling that this was the first love song I ever wrote for my future abusive partner.

did anyone ever tell you you’ve got a bit of a temper, my dear?

you sure can make the smallest face

and drink the largest beer

you’re a strange and weird enigma at best

with some good ideas, I must confess

I’d be wrong to say you’re like the rest

it’s not like I hate you

I just don’t exactly like you all the time

but if you give me the chance

I would love to be your partner in crime

we may not listen to the same kind of bands

we may not have the same kind of friends

and we may both have absurd demands, but

I wanna hold your pomegranate hands

you’re that crazy, punk-rock kid who’s bumming on the streets

the multitask musician with the killer beats

the estranged and forgotten enigma at best

with some crazy hair, I must confess

I’d be wrong to say you’re like the rest

it’s not like I hate you

I just don’t exactly like you all the time

but if you give me the chance

I would love to be your partner in crime

we may not listen to the same kind of bands

we may not have the same kind of friends

and we may both have absurd demands, but

I wanna hold your pomegranate hands

I wanna hold your pomegranate hands
