Poison From My Pride

The Rebuild

The canyons through my heart

Are the scars from your lies.

To think we'd never part

Helped me hide behind

All the walls in this world

Can't block the poison from my pride

Flooding the senses, swirled

Through like a roller coaster ride.

Our castle was crumbling from the start

All the guilt, all the pain

Fueled the flames of my heart

Tears bled my soul like rain

Broken, defeated, and lost

I crawled through the haze.

Nothing left to lose, it cost

My pride and countless dark days

I still don't understand

But accept the change.

I've found my footing and

Am exploring the range.

A year later the hate has passed

I forgive you for your sin.

A new life I have cast

Learning to live again
