Love At First Sniff

Sometimes

I like smelling

the days old

unshowered

unfiltered

scent

that is my body odor

after a long camping trip

:

The raw smell of a woman’s

skin and sweat

:

It reminds me of who I am

It reminds me that I’m an animal

:

Walking inside my home we call Earth

Atop my living room floor we call dirt

:

I love the smell of fresh pheromones

from a lover not wearing any deodorant

:

Their eau de love

:

Kissing my nose

just to remind me

how lovely their natural scent is

without any cologne to mask it

:

It reminds me why I love them

It reminds me that they are human

love poems
