Peck, Peck

The mascot of the University of Delaware has a history that stretches back to the American Revolution.

They'll fight, alright.

The fight for a nation is the reason

For a scrappy lot of gamecocks that made

The First State resonate in all seasons.

The legend will never ever just fade.

The gamecocks strut, their feathers like points

Of navy fluttering and parading

As they gain ground on other cocks in joints.

They allow for no theft or invading.

The fight remains fierce in Delaware streets.

The Blue Hen continues to just peck, peck.

Whatever bird that he or she may meet

The Delaware Blue Hen will stretch its neck.

This fighting bird is one to earn respect.

For it can leave an opponent just wrecked.
