Pebbles

Out of a translucent creek
Rocks round and smooth I took :
Like a gem, each one

Gotten a variety from the sun, —
Ruby red and sapphire blue,
Emerald and onyx as well,

Precious stone and amethyst, —
Not a valuable stone I missed :
Jewels I held from each land
In the empty of my hand.

Laborer Water these had made ;
Calmly through sun and shade,
With the waves of the stream
He had cleaned them until,

Smooth, balanced and brilliant,
Every one shining in the light
Displayed inside its consuming heart
All the lapidary's specialty ;

Furthermore, the stream appeared in this manner to sing :
Tolerance vanquishes everything !

    A good interface of imagery with a concise message on an inanimate object we use or pass by occasionally.
