I’ve been waiting for a lifetime to have this time with you,

That was built through our friendship, the subtle gestures that gave a clue,

The way your eyes that spoke longingly, the gentle flash of your smile,

How I provoke your laughter with a bit of style,

But the time has come to take a step, that moment of intense choice,

The acknowledgment of our feelings, the recognition through open voice,

The groundwork was already formed the moment our eyes locked sight,

So will you take this leap of faith into the darkness of the night?

Your heart is heavy in the downcast, history would deem it so,

The treachery wrought against you, the pain that helped you grow,

I know it’s difficult enduring the storm, sight would surely cause a trance,

So when I call on you to take a step, will you take this chance?

Darkness is all around us, the path forward not clear,

When all seems so uncertain, it’s easy to cave into fear,

But the shadow is only a prelude, this is temporary, the night,

For darkness is the setup, for the beginning of the light,
