Painted Thoughts
On a random Wednesday
Not every smile is genuine,
when bright lights magnify darkness.
Not every tear is sadness,
when solitude runs from chaos.
Not every truth is a lie,
but every lie is someone’s truth.
And all the smiles,
and all the tears,
hold a wicked honesty that can be seen
somewhere beyond a mirage of righteousness,
in a desert of human contradiction
and individuality.
For if all I am to feel,
all I am to see,
all I am to do,
and all the colours of my life
are predetermined
and crated in monotonous greys,
what’s the point in even opening the box
to teach myself to paint.

💯👌👌👌Cathy
This poem, among other things, answers the question of what's the point. It's neither monotonous, nor grey. Well done!
Damn. Those last few lines were brutally effective and resonated. You are so masterful at weaving words, my dear friend.
Some insightful questions and words, love this
Not every truth is a lie, but every lie is someone’s truth. These lines were my favourite and I kept rereading them! Your poem was so profound and poignant. I loved it!

Very nice poetry
It truly thought, provoking poem, and you’re beginning with not every smile is genuine that was powerful, and sadly true!
There is so much depth to this, what a wonderful poem! My favorite is not every truth is a lie, but a lie is someone's truth.
And yet here you are painting, and beautifully.
Gorgeous and so true. 🌟❤️💕
