Once Scorned

Strangely Art Prompt - Unofficial Challenge

The dark lake of forbidden love

Calls to me like a siren

Begs for a sacrificial dove

Hiding in the horizon

As I approach the water’s edge

I stumble and I fall

Left dangling on its jagged ledge

So, I begin to crawl

Injured and feeling vulnerable

I cry out to the water

Please help me I'm in trouble

As it calls me an imposter

The doves and I then make a plan

To void the power that you're wielding

To cast the spell of frogman

Until your shores begin receding

And when you are a puddle

and your darkness is my own

The doves and I will chuckle

As I fill you in with stone

Love it when the underdog (or girl with birds) wins! Take that, forbidden love! Enjoyed your interpretation of the art. How amazing it is to read all these wonderful imaginings!

The best parts of this poem project the idea of nature and especially avian beings like doves. Its imagery gives the reader a true understanding of the elements and makes the mind perceive it all.
