On Art
My thoughts on art and the artist's tendency to self-censor.

The thing about Art is
You can't fake it.
No matter how skilled a liar,
No matter how many you have convinced,
Art will always know.
The canvas or the page will always betray you.
It will thump you square in the head
And yell for all to hear,
“Where is your truth!”
Art is truly a cruel mistress;
Art is truth embodied
And truth is abandon
And as such Art does not hold back
For anyone.
Art is ethereal;
We do not capture Art,
We do not harness it,
We can simply be content
That we may channel it.
About the Creator
Kynnie Campbell
I am primarily a poet, using my experience with trauma, synesthesia, and my oddly resilient whimsey to put unique spins on age old existential experiences and questions. I'm nonbinary (they/them), pan, and biracial (indigenous).
