Old soul

Remember

What do you say

When someone ask your view

Then you realize it is more

About them and less about you

Remembering days of old

You realize you have a old soul

Brought up with switches off trees

Just remembering is enough

To have you drop to your knees

Those old ways had you begging please

Tarnished there’s no gold you have a old soul

More important than just black and white

Every child had to learn wrong from right

Adults very often had some strong words

Saying children should be seen and not heard

A lesson from days of old you have a old soul

Run skip cut the string on a kite with pocket knife

Told where to go and how you should behave

Don’t listen and there was a belt along the way

Funny the things we remember how it use to be

Still we face difficulties that challenge equality

Moments of life were on a roll we have a old soul

Who can boldly say humanity is better today

So much we have learned so far we’ve come

Many have forgotten as the world is undone

Lessons and morals of who we use to be

Boundaries reinforced by a switch off a tree

As the seasons come and go if your remember

You have an old soul
