Ode to My Intrauterine Device
My guardian, my protector.
Tiny guardian of my most sacred space,
Protector of promiscuity and nights I don’t need to retrace,
Silent shield against the reckless whispers of fate,
With you, I am unburdened, unbound, uninhibited, unafraid,
.
Within my womb, you dwell so quietly, so graceful, so serene,
The finest jewel of safety, one fit for a flirtatious queen,
A noble steed defending my hopes from accidental strife,
You are an ironclad, fortified, fortress protecting my life,
.
Oh slender, t-shaped, envoy of peace and choice,
Never drying out my rivers, always keeping them moist
Admiral of the fleet, braving the motion of the oxytocin ocean,
Giving me unwavering, unfaltering, unfathomable devotion,
.
Here we are, you and I, and you and me,
My cherished friend, my preserver, my trusty IUD,
You give me the freedom to not make a really tough choice,
You grant me autonomy, agency, like an aria, you lift up my voice,
.
So here’s to you, my miracle worker of a device,
You are a testament to loyalty through those nights ridden with vice,
A symbol of empowerment when my body is about to combust,
Here, here, my friend, it’s you and I until we’re rust and dust.
