Ode to Humanity
Exploring the Dichotomy of Human Nature and the Path to Unity
Oh, humanity, how vast and complex thou art!
In thy thoughts and deeds, lies both light and dark.
Thou art the pinnacle of creation, the crown of all,
Yet, in thy follies and flaws, thou dost sometimes fall.
Thou art born with a blank slate, free from bias or hate,
But, as thou groweth, thy mind is shaped by fate.
Thou learneth love and kindness, thou learneth wrath,
Thou learneth peace and harmony, thou learneth war's path.
Thou art capable of great feats, of changing the world,
Thou art capable of destruction, of ruin unfurled.
Thou hath climbed the highest mountains, reached the farthest stars,
Thou hath built the mightiest empires, waged the bloodiest wars.
Thou hath created art and music, poetry and prose,
Thou hath built machines and structures, from the ground up rose.
Thou hath cured diseases, explored the depths of the sea,
Thou hath pushed the boundaries of science and technology.
But, oh humanity, thy achievements are marred,
By the divisions and conflicts, that leave us scarred.
Thy race, thy religion, thy nationality,
Have been used to divide, to create animosity.
Thou hath enslaved thy fellow human, in the name of power,
Thou hath used thy wealth to exploit, in every hour.
Thou hath taken from nature, without a care,
Thou hath polluted the earth, poisoned the air.
Thou hath caused pain and suffering, to thy kin,
Thou hath oppressed the weak, in the name of sin.
Thou hath used thy words as weapons, to hurt and harm,
Thou hath let thy ego rule, causing endless alarm.
But, despite thy faults, oh humanity,
Thou hath the power to change, to create unity.
Thou can choose love and compassion, over hate and fear,
Thou can choose to heal the wounds, that we hold dear.
For, at the core of thy being, lies a spark of light,
A flame of hope that burns, ever so bright.
Thou can use it to guide, to show the way,
Thou can use it to create, a better today.
Let us unite, oh humanity, in this hour,
Let us put aside our differences, and embrace our power.
Let us work together, to heal the wounds we've caused,
Let us build a world, that is fair and just.
For, in the end, oh humanity,
We are one, we are family.
Let us embrace our diversity, and celebrate,
Let us create a world, that is truly great.
Oh, humanity, how vast and complex thou art,
In thy thoughts and deeds, lies both light and dark.
Let us choose the light, let us choose the right,
Let us create a world, that shines ever so bright.
