Ode to Abraham Lincoln, the Great Emancipator
A Sonnet in Praise of His Noble Deeds and Inspiring Words
Oh, Lincoln, thou hast been a man of great might,
Whose deeds and words still echo through the night.
Thy tales of hardship and of hope inspire,
And still ignite within our souls a fire.
Thou wast a man who bore the weight of fate,
A leader strong and true, in war and state.
Thy words, like arrows, flew straight to the heart,
And with each one, thou didst a nation start.
Thy Gettysburg Address, a timeless piece,
Remains a testament to thy great peace.
For though the land was torn by war and strife,
Thy words did give to all a second life.
And when the war was won, and peace restored,
Thy heart did break at all the lives deplored.
Yet still thou didst persevere and lead,
With grace and wisdom, thought and word and deed.
Oh, Lincoln, though thou art long gone,
Thy legacy still shines, as bright as dawn.
Thy memory we shall forever cherish,
And with each passing day, it shall not perish.
